- First Improvised Security Testing Conference - FIST
-
FIST Conferences are rapidly growing information security conventions, spread all over the globe. They are free and open events organized by the Open Information Systems Security Group to raise the level of information security awareness and to teach advanced security practices developed by OISSG. It is an effort to bring individual local talent and make the most of it within the IS security community. After attending one of these conferences, you will not only learn new techniques but you will also be able to apply them in practice.
It is an effort to develop a platform where professionals can hone and honor their skills and corporates can meet their resource requirements by observing the candidates more closely during the conference. Additionally, you will also have the opportunity to meet new security-minded colleagues working in your area.

These free conferences are organized by OISSG volunteers in association with corporate or academic sponsors.. OISSG's volunteers spend a lot of their time and resources to ensure the successful organization of a conference.
Organizers make sure that the topics covered in a conference meet the target audience's requirements. It provides a way for attendees to be introduced to new security related topics and also helps strengthen their basic skills
FIST Conferences are a one day (sometimes one week) activity with theory and hands-on activity. They are held in a relaxed and informal atmosphere and allows participants to enjoy their learning. Sometimes the conference consists of a single track, with one hour presentations by each speaker.
Participants have the opportunity to meet other professionals through discussion and through competitions that generate some friendly rivalry. This environment gives novices the opportunity to hone their basic skills and it also allows one subject matter expert to learn from other subject matter experts. It also allows a degree of peer review to take place.
Our speakers are experienced information security professionals in their domain who are willing to help you stay abreast of the latest technologies in this rapidly changing field.
